[ Character's Name ] : Loki
[ Character's Age ] : Indeterminate
[ Series ] : Marvel
[ Canon Point ] : Marvel Cinematic Universe(Earth-199999): Post Avengers Assemble. Right after Thor takes Loki back with him to Asgard with the Tessaract.

[ History ] :

Loki grew up in the shadow of Thor. Even as a deity prince in the realm of Asgard, he felt inferior to his brother. Thor was bigger, braver and stronger – values Asgardians take pride in, values Loki lacks. He learned other ways to compensate by making it up in terms of magical power, skill and intellect. He became a schemer, a sorcerer of the highest caliber. Having no direct responsibility to the throne, however, he defected to using his talents to cause mischief , eventually turning into malice. He has then earned himself the title of “God of Lies and Mischief”.

His evil is deeply rooted on the fact that his father Odin had kept the truth of his heritage from him – that Loki was no true son of Odin, that he was, in fact, a son of Asgard’s enemies – the Frost Giants. This hatred translates too to Thor, the apparently only legitimate heir to Asgard.
Ever since, Loki has waged wars and continually battles – an eternal rivalry - with the one person who wishes to defend him and take him home, his brother Thor.

[ Personality ] :

Loki is a pragmatic idealist. He’s the type to think ten steps ahead but he would get lost in his haughtiness in the heat of the situation. When parts of his plan get hindered, he would often lose his cool and would hastily try to fix the situation to regain composure. One example of this was when he intended to be captured by S.H.I.E.L.D to plant discord among the Avengers at their homebase. Everything went according to plan save for the parts when Black Widow finds out early on on his plan on unleashing a raging Hulk on the Helicarrier and when Coulson managed to attack him with a Destroyer-based weapon (this he reacted to by mortally wounding the Agent to get back at him and to presumably save face). Suffice to say, that he is smug perfectionist with easy-to-ruffle feathers. Though at clear defeat, he has shown to be a good sport and surrenders gracefully to be taken away (though there will be lingering vengeful stares).

Unlike his incarnation in the previous film, Loki is shown to be more easily provoked as he is constantly under a lot of stress and the threat of a cosmic being. Though he tries to cool down immediately, his shortened fuse proved to be his weakness as some have used this as an opportunity to attack him (Hulk, Coulson).

Loki displays a crippling insecurity (verging on hatred) for himself and has a raging inferiority complex, which he would like to hide behind arrogance and superiority. He would take any chance to prove himself in battle and conquest schemes and he doesn't take failing in the attempt well. Commonly, he would often put others down with words and tricks to feel more secure about himself.

He does have a strong sense of family and loyalty, though expression of it may seem perverse to the point that he aims to destroy or best them in battle, but only to prove that he is worthy of their expectations. This he directs most to his brother Thor, who he despises and envies and yet looks out for first and foremost. Often he would be presented opportunities wherein he could have successfully killed Thor (as Thor in the movie-verse is very vulnerable and emotional when confronting Loki and only concerns himself with the reconciliation of his brother), but he would often only leave a wound or dispatch Thor from the current battlefield, instead of just effectively slaying him. He does not aim to kill or destroy his family, but rather spite them and show them that, despite his lack in strength as an Aesir or as a Frost Giant, he is strong enough to either be the shield on the throne of Asgard or the smiting sword that destroys it.

Though it's not like the approval and acceptance has not been offered to him in the first place. The fact that his origins were hidden from him compounded on his insecurities about not being an equal heir as Thor or his lacking in Aesir qualities (strength, bravery, size). He is even lacking in qualities as a Frost Giant as he is only 1/5th the size of his kindred and he does not possess any of their strength. This led to any form of acceptance or forgiveness on part of Odin and Thor feel like an act of pity to Loki. In fact, this is what led him to be so pessimistic about other people's capacity for tolerance and acceptance. This is why he goes through such lengths to display magnanimous feats of wit, power and intellect - to win - earn - that approval through his own efforts and the only way he feels he could achieve that is by overwhelming them with his talents.

Also, as if to add to levels of compensation and overconfidence, Loki likes to be dramatic. In every aspect of his plan, it must seem like it's a part of a show - there must be poetic reasoning, a sense of theatricality. This romanticized ideals of his, for him, are the ultimate form of execution and success in them would signal the only conditions for his "perfect victory' - the "only way it can make sense." He has been known to orchestrate plans to perfectly frame people or stage fights in specific times and places, to increase the impact of his intentions. He has done this several times all throughout the movie-verse, one notable examples being him visiting Thor in his exile while the latter is captured by humans to the bring news of their father's "death" as well as stating that Thor's exile would be permanent and that the burden of the throne lies on Loki's shoulders. Loki timed and staged it so so that it would compound on Thor's despair and helplessness in the realm of mortals. One other notable example was preparing the grand stage for the Chitauri assault, by preparing the portal directly over Stark Tower. This was done for reasons such as the Tower being the "greatest spectacle/monument in the area" and to spite and mock the heroes.

He is also a master of masks. The face he puts on for people to see may not be exactly how he is feeling or thinking. He is a very accomplished actor. At times where it is shown where his actions are being influenced by a stronger being, by himself he has shown signs of fear but when presenting himself to the playing field, he becomes cool and collected, though the sense of urgency is still there.

Loki isn’t trustworthy but he holds oaths sacred, though he would often try to find loopholes in the agreement if it will serve his own personal purposes. He's polite and civil – a gentleman, if you will - and will avoid confrontation if necessary (especially incidents where violence and death may be inevitable, unless that's the point of his current scheme.) He can be mean and tricky but, with the professional attitude he carries, he can be a valuable asset as an ally as long as he doesn't have a reason to betray you.

He often spends his time alone; contemplating, scheming or nursing old wounds. Though he doesn’t show it, what he truly longs for is acceptance - and not one that would be just handed over to him, but an acceptance and recognition that he feels he has earned through effort.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :

Strengths: Loki possesses a genius level intellect. He is also extremely cunning and an expert battle strategist. Almost all his plans are guaranteed to succeed, failing only if it is also part of his plan, if it is countered ala Gordian Knot or if it involved Thor. He is also a master in the arts of suggestion, able to wheedle his way into the hearts and minds of people with the use of his “poisoned honey” tongue. And though he is not as strong as a typical Asgardian, he is capable in a melee fight - results from tagging along in quests and hunts with Thor, Sif and the Warriors Three.

Weaknesses: His feelings for Thor, his lust for power, and his tendency to alienate himself hinders his ability to bring his well laid plans to fruition. Though a god, he is still also mortal and can tire and die by mortal means. The magnitude of his power also varies in worlds (e.g. Loki is near-god when he is in Jotunheim or in Asgard but he becomes watered down when fighting in Midgard). He would require time to adapt to new worlds before he would be able to practice the full extent of his abilities.

[ Other Important Facts ] :

Powers:
- Master Sorcerer – his repertoire includes teleportation, energy/elemental blasts, physical augmentation, force fields, enchantment (imbuing), illusions and shape-shifting (his specialties). He also has been shown to be adept at understanding and using objects of magical properties.
- Pseudo-psionics – though he possesses extra-sensory abilities like telepathic communication and telekinesis, he cannot “feel through” the minds of others. He can however control their minds to varying degrees of success (depends on the strength of will and psychic resistance of the person being affected)
- Superhuman Physiology – Loki ages at a far slower rate than humans and is immune to all known Earthly diseases and infections. Though he can still obtain injury, he is inhumanly durable and his Frost Giant metabolism allows him to exert himself at peak capacity for about 24 hours before fatigue begins to impair him. His body naturally heals itself after sustaining damage. He can also temporarily augment his body’s capabilities through magical means. He is also capable of living without food as long as he can take part of any energy/magic source present in his location (mana, lifestream energy, etc.)
- Superhuman Strength/Speed/Agility - He is fast enough to catch Hawkeye's arrow that was inches from his neck. He also displays all three in his fight against Captain America. Had Loki not merely intended to humiliate the supersoldier, he could have easily killed him.
- The All-Tongue - Loki can speak and understand all spoken languages. When he talks, the listener can hear him in the latter's native language.

Inventory:
- Laevteinn – his spear/scepter. Melee/magic conductor.
- Throwing knives

Behavior:

- Loki is a very proficient liar. He often talks with the purpose of getting into people’s minds, under their skin or in their pants. And if his words of persuasion aren’t enough, he would use his powers of illusion and shape-shifting. He seems to enjoy trolling people.
- He doesn't like it when people bring up the issue of family. He becomes extremely touchy and defensive.

[ Sample ] :

[This world is far too different. He feels it in his body; how hard it is for him to adapt to the energy that was keeping the world alive. Mana - or whatever they call it here - refuses to flow into his system as generously as he wants it to. It poses a problem. A big problem.

How disgraceful.

[ He swings Laevateinn in a grand arc. One after the other, monsters come and fall under blast and strike of Loki’s scepter. But his spells are taking a larger toll on him, more so than usual. Under normal circumstances, he would never have even broken a sweat. But this time, he was not under normal circumstances. Being new in this world tires him easily when he uses magic. And now drained, he is forced to flee in the face of primal hostility. On foot. Like a rat. Like a mortal. ]

I am a prince! Rightful heir to the greatest kingdom in the Nine Realms! I will not be reduced to escaping in fear from the dregs of evolution, bullied by an existence far lower than dirt under my boots.

[ He will not submit to such a fate. Loki snarls quietly and slams the tail end of his scepter down into the ground, with a force stronger than he would have liked yet enough to scare away the remaining pursuers. His voice is strained, yet it betrays none of his emotions. ]

You will not best a god today!
